About NTU QFASC

The NTU Quantitative Finance and Actuarial Science Club (QFASC) primarily serves the actuarial science community in Nanyang Technological University, although most of the events organised by the QFASC are open to students from all disciplines. 


The key events of the club are the


• Actuarial Science Case Challenge, which was first launched in March 2012. This yearly competition aims to raise awareness of actuarial science to all undergraduate students from the main local universities in Singapore. The competition details can be found under Appendix F.

• Actuarial Science Networking Night, which gives undergraduate students an opportunity to interact with actuarial professionals and learn more about the potential career choices in the actuarial industry. This event is open to all students regardless of discipline from the major universities in Singapore.

• Organising of information talks, where distinguished speakers from the actuarial industry are invited to share their experiences and provide students insight to various career opportunities.

About RICT

The Risk Intelligence Challenge Trophy (RICT) is an inter-university risk competition which aims to raise risk awareness of undergraduate students and provide students a glimpse into the risk industry. The RICT welcomes participants to provide fresh perspectives on risk management which could potentially enrich the risk industry. Besides promoting curiosity and enthusiasm in the professional risk issues, the RICT aims to encourage participants' independent learning via logical and creative thinking.

Vision

To help build and raise awareness of current risk issues amongst students by providing a challenging learning opportunity for the developing young minds and engaging them in a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

Objectives

  • To support learning by raising awareness of how risk is related to all aspects of business and our everyday lives
  • To engage the new generation in understanding their perspective of risk
  • To provide a platform for undergraduates to share and refresh their opinions regarding risk issues surrounding them
  • To allow undergraduates from different colleges and different faculties to interact amongst themselves and with risk professionals from Deloitte's Enterprise Risk Services practice
